Priset på ett fiskjobb är alltid en diskussionsfråga.

När ett jobb skall prissättas är det mycket mer som spelar in än fiskens längd och vikt. T.ex. hur intressant jobbet är. En speciell eller ovanlig fisk kan ju i sig vara intressant att göra, vilket ger kunden ett bra förhandlingsläge.

Kräver jobbet å andra sidan mer tid än normalt kanske det blir dyrare än det annars skulle vara. Öppna munnar på t.ex. gäddor genererar naturligtvis mer jobb med alla tänderna.

Fiskens skick påverkar också priset. En försiktigt och väl hanterad fisk kan vara ett lätt jobb, medan en med stora skador kan kräva mycket efterarbete för att bli bra. Arbete = tid = pengar. Och naturligtvis påverkas priset av hur fisken ska monteras. Ett bordsmontage, som ska kunna ses från båda sidorna, blir av naturliga skäl dyrare än ett väggmontage med bara en synlig sida.

På en träfisk påverkas priset också av t.ex. detaljrikedom och antal kroppsfjäll. Exempelvis en gädda eller lax har 6-8 000 fjäll som alla ska snidas in i ytan, vissa salmonider och t.ex. gös kommer upp i mellan 10 000 och 12 000 fjäll.

A table mount, where the fish has to look equally good on both sides, will for obvious reasons be more expensive than a wall mount where only one sida of the fish is visible.
On a woodcarving or a model, the price is also affected by the amount of detail and the number of body scales. A pike or a salmon, for example, have only 6 000 - 8 000 scales, while some salmonids and for example zander, will have between 10 000 and 12 000 scales.
